LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Woodland Pond upon the occasion of
receiving the Building Project of the Year Award from the Ulster County
Development Corporation and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious organizations of the State of New York whose purposeful endeavors
serve to enhance the quality of life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Woodland Pond upon the occasion of receiving the Building Project of the
Year Award from the Ulster County Development Corporation and Ulster
County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Woodland Pond will be honored at the Ulster County Develop-
ment Corporation and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards
Dinner to be held at the Wiltwyck Golf Club on Thursday, October 22,
2009; and
WHEREAS, Woodland Pond celebrated its grand opening in 2009, and
welcomed the first of its residents, 62-years-old and older, who desire
to live in a gracious retirement setting; and
WHEREAS, This vibrant community offers spacious apartments and
cottages with panoramic views, stone features, open space and a cluster
arrangement sensitive to the environment; and
WHEREAS, Woodland Pond is a non-profit organization and 85 percent of
its residents will come from a 15-mile radius from their previous homes;
and
WHEREAS, During the building phase, more than 250 workers were
employed and green initiatives can be seen throughout the building,
including triple pane windows for insulation, rain catch basins for
irrigation and bamboo flooring; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Woodland Pond upon the occasion of receiving the Building
Project of the Year Award from the Ulster County Development Corporation
and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Woodland Pond.
