LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Saunderskill Farms upon the occasion
of receiving the Small Business of the Year Award from the Ulster County
Development Corporation and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic health and vitality of their communities and
the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Saunderskill Farms upon the occasion of receiving the Small Business of
the Year Award from the Ulster County Development Corporation and Ulster
County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Saunderskill Farms will be honored at the Ulster County
Development Corporation and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce Annual
Awards Dinner to be held at the Wiltwyck Golf Club on Thursday, October
22, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A twelve generation business operated by the Schoonmaker
family, Saunderskill Farms is one of the oldest operating farms in New
York State and is a true Ulster County original; and
WHEREAS, Located in Rochester, New York, and employing more than a
dozen people, Saunderskill Farms' entrepreneurial spirit shines through
not only on its farm but also at its world-class farmer's market, bakery
and greenhouse; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, the Schoonmaker family hosts free classes for
the community to further Ulster County's rich farming heritage; this
year, the company introduced an outdoor barbeque program and offered
free WiFi for customers; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of this exceptional business and its contributions to
the local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Saunderskill Farms upon the occasion of receiving the Small
Business of the Year Award from the Ulster County Development Corpo-
ration and Ulster County Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Saunderskill Farms.
