LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 60th Anniversary of AHRC
Suffolk

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 60th Anniversary of AHRC Suffolk; and
WHEREAS, A leader in day and residential programming for people with
intellectual and other developmental disabilities, AHRC Suffolk has
provided for over 2,500 children and adults throughout its 38 facilities
over the past 60 years; and
WHEREAS, With over 1,000 dedicated individuals on staff and a member-
ship of close to 2,000 families, AHRC Suffolk is like a large extended
family that offers solutions, advice, comfort and support; and
WHEREAS, AHRC Suffolk offers a variety of programs and services for
children and adults through all stages of life, from school age to
seniors; its therapeutic programs for children are based at the Saul and
Elaine Seiff Educare Center in Bohemia and day habilitation, vocational
training, job placement services, Medicaid service coordination and
residential services for adults are offered throughout Suffolk County;
and
WHEREAS, To drive its vocation programs, AHRC Suffolk partners with
industry; the work centers accept packaging and assembly contracts,
while job placement offers prescreened, skilled and motivated employees;
and
WHEREAS, The AHRC Suffolk retail nursery, Flowerfield Gardens, deliv-
ers corporate orders of holiday poinsettias and wreaths; another enter-
prise, Baskets for All Occasions, specializes in custom and corporate
orders of unique seasonal and year-round gift baskets from its website;
and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by AHRC Suffolk is in direct correlation
to the efforts of the many individuals, past and present, who have
supported its progress over the years; and
WHEREAS, Equally commendable are the superbly skilled staff at AHRC
Suffolk, whose involvement is and has always been characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all of their efforts on behalf of the organ-
ization and the population it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of AHRC Suffolk, fully confident that
it will continue to enjoy the sparkling success which has so character-
ized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to AHRC Suffolk.
