LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi
fraternity upon the occasion of its 50th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity upon the occasion of its
50th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, One of the leading community-oriented fraternities in the
Capital District, the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity is
an affiliate chapter of a 100,000 member international association of
minority professional men; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi
fraternity work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for people who
live and work in the region, sponsoring programs on non-violence and
domestic violence, and collecting and distributing food and clothing to
local food banks and clothing shelters; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the members of the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega
Psi Phi fraternity partner with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program
in the region and the American Red Cross to collect blood donations, as
well as providing scholarship opportunities for two college bound young
men; and
WHEREAS, The success of Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity
is in direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involve-
ment is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment,
an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the fraternity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi
Phi fraternity and to wish this distinguished organization continued
success in all of its future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity upon the occa-
sion of its 50th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Nu Tau chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
