LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Inspire upon the occasion of hosting
its annual Shining Stars Celebration

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Inspire upon the occasion of hosting its annual Shining Stars Cele-
bration on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Middletown Elks Lodge;
and
WHEREAS, Inspire is celebrating 60 years of service and will be honor-
ing its employees for their dedication and hard work to the organization
and to those they serve; and
WHEREAS, Inspire was founded as Orange County Cerebral Palsy Associ-
ation, Inc. in 1950, primarily to help children with cerebral palsy;
today, Inspire provides a wide array of outpatient, educational, and
support services for people of all ages with a variety of disabilities
and challenges, and for the general public; and
WHEREAS, A non-profit organization, Inspire is an affiliate of Cere-
bral Palsy Associations of New York State, and is a member agency of
Orange County United Way; Inspire publishes the SUCCESS NEWSLETTER three
times a year with the goal of educating and informing readers about
Inspire and issues affecting people with disabilities in our community;
and
WHEREAS, Inspire's mission is to form partnerships with people who
have special challenges in order to maximize their capabilities to lead
fuller lives by: providing quality person-centered services to meet
individual challenges; informing and educating about development, inter-
vention, and resources; promoting understanding of special challenges
and inclusion within the community; and developing new and ongoing
programs in response to changing community needs; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Inspire upon the occasion of hosting its annual Shining Stars
Celebration; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Inspire.
