LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION paying tribute to the Orange County Arts Council
upon the occasion of its Awards Ceremony in honor of the 2009 Arts
Awards Recipients on November 20, 2009
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to honor and recog-
nize those organizations and individuals whose commitment and creative
talents contribute to the cultural enrichment of their communities and
of the entire State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to pay trib-
ute to the Orange County Arts Council upon the occasion of its Awards
Ceremony in honor of the 2009 Arts Awards Recipients; and
WHEREAS, This years distinguished honorees include Robert Whitman,
Individual Artist Award; Wallkill River School, Arts Organization Award;
Susan Konvit, Arts in Education Award; William Seaton, Champion for the
Arts Award; F. Edward Devitt/Devitt Real Estate, Corporate Champion for
the Arts Award; Elizabeth Avila-Brown, Champion for Persons with Disa-
bilities Award; Oriane Rosner, Youth with Exceptional Promise Award and
Chris Farlekas, Lifetime Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, the Orange County Classic Choral Society will
receive a special commendation in recognition of celebrating its 50th
Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, These illustrious award recipients will be recognized by the
Orange County Arts Council on Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Moun-
tainville Manor, Mountainville, New York; and
WHEREAS, All of the 2009 award recipients can be characterized as
exhibiting impressive commitments, unbridled enthusiasms, and uncompro-
mising standards of excellence for the arts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to the Orange County Arts Council upon the occasion of its
Awards Ceremony in honor of the 2009 Arts Awards Recipients on November
20, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned honorees.
