LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ed Nowik upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of the 2009 Big Brother of the Year Award by the Big
Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region on November 12, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ed
Nowik upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2009 Big
Brother of the Year Award by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital
Region to be celebrated at its reception "A Big Evening Of Thanks" on
Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Dora Maxwell Center, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, An employee of the Capital District Psychiatric Center (NYS-
OMH), Ed Nowik has been matched with little brother Cedric Williams for
the past six years; and
WHEREAS, He has given not only of his time and energies but also of
his competence, intelligence and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Ed Nowik has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when indi-
viduals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ed Nowik upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2009 Big Brother of the Year Award by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of
the Capital Region; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed Nowik, 2 Helen Terrace, Albany, New York 12211.
