LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kelly Delehanty upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition as the Warwick Valley High
School Student-Athlete of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Kelly Delehanty upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition as the Warwick Valley High School Student-Athlete of
the Week; and
WHEREAS, Kelly is the loving daughter of Bill and Lorraine Delehanty
of Warwick, New York, and the caring sister of two brothers, Will and
Keith; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Delehanty, the senior volleyball captain who was an
integral part of the 2009 division championship team, played both setter
and right side hitter for the 14-1 Warwick Wildcats; and
WHEREAS, She carries a 92 average and is a member of the National
Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and is on the high honor roll; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Delehanty has concentrated her focus in athletics on
volleyball, and plans to study mathematics education as well as play
volleyball; she is interested in attending the State University of New
York at Cortland and would be a great addition to the Red Dragon's
Women's Volleyball Team; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Kelly Delehanty's dedication to athlet-
ics is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Delehanty's exemplary performance is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kelly Delehanty upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition as the Warwick Valley High School Student-Athlete of
the Week, and to commend her for the enduring honor she has brought to
her family, her school and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kelly Delehanty, Warwick, New York.
