LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Hawkins family and Green Hills
Market upon the occasion of celebrating 75 years of service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious organizations of distinguished purpose that
have been committed to the pursuit of excellence and that bring great
pride to the citizens of our great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
the Hawkins family and Green Hills Market upon the occasion of celebrat-
ing 75 years of service; and
WHEREAS, In 1934, Carrie Hawkins founded a summer farmstand that would
eventually grow into the Green Hills Market that we know today; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of CEO, Gary Hawkins, the mission of
Green Hills Market is to bring together family, friends, and communities
by providing a wide assortment of specialty, international, gourmet and
high quality fresh foods in a friendly, courteous shopping environment;
and
WHEREAS, Located at 5933 South Salina Street in Syracuse, New York,
Green Hills Market, and four Hawkins generations, has proudly served the
local community for 75 years by providing impeccable service to all its
customers; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 75 years, Green Hills Market has received
numerous accolades including being named the Best Little Grocery Store
in America by INC. Magazine; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when businesses
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Hawkins family and Green Hills Market for 75 years of service;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gary Hawkins, CEO of Green Hills Market, Syracuse, New York.
