LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Camp Venture, Inc. upon the occasion
of receiving the 2009 Environmental Excellence Award from the New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to duly recognize and
commend those organizations of high purpose and dedicated service within
the State of New York which are committed to the vital work of environ-
mental protection; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Camp Venture, Inc. upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Environmental
Excellence Award from the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation on Monday, December 7, 2009; and
WHEREAS, This most prestigious award was created to honor those organ-
izations and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in
solving environmental challenges by using innovative and environmentally
sustainable partnerships or creative practices; and
WHEREAS, Camp Venture, Inc. was recognized for its greening practices
and the installation of photovoltaic systems (solar power) on two commu-
nity residences as well as at an adult day care program all of which are
located in Nanuet, New York; these group homes are the first out 5,995
statewide to utilize solar power; and
WHEREAS, Camp Venture, Inc. has continuously displayed an on-going
commitment to operating in a manner that is both environmentally
sustainable and cost effective; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all the citizens of this great Empire
State to recognize and applaud the efforts of organizations such as Camp
Venture, Inc. which work tirelessly on behalf of protecting our natural
surroundings for the benefit of present and future generations of New
Yorkers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Camp Venture, Inc. upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Envi-
ronmental Excellence Award from the New York State Department of Envi-
ronmental Conservation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Camp Venture, Inc.
