LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Brandon Cantelmo upon the occasion of
his selection as a Warwick Valley High School Student-Athlete of the
Week

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Brandon
Cantelmo upon the occasion of his recognition, announced in the WARWICK
VALLEY DISPATCH's December 16, 2009 edition, as a Warwick Valley High
School Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Brandon Cantelmo has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and matu-
rity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposeful-
ness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Senior basketball standout Brandon Cantelmo has led the Wild-
cats offensively in the team's first two games with 19 and 12 point
efforts in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament; he was selected to the All
Tournament Team and is noted for his excellent shooting range from
behind the three point arc; and
WHEREAS, An excellent student, Brandon Cantelmo has a 90.5 average and
carries a challenging schedule including Advance Placement English,
Calculus, and a college course in Accounting offered by Orange County
Community College; and
WHEREAS, Brandon Cantelmo is, in addition, involved in Future Business
Leaders of America and the Gifted Education Seminar; he was recognized
by the NYSPHSAA as a Scholar-Athlete for basketball in his junior year
and was named Mr. Basketball for the 2008-2009 season; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Brandon Cantel-
mo, the son of Lou and Celia Cantelmo of Warwick, has brought honor to
his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Brandon Cantelmo may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; and
WHEREAS, Brandon Cantelmo represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Brandon Cantelmo upon the occasion of his selection as a Warwick
Valley High School Student-Athlete of the Week and to wish him well in
his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brandon Cantelmo.
