LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ex-Chief Anthony Raccomandato upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition after 25 years of
dedicated service to the North Lindenhurst Fire Department on February
20, 2010

WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our valiant firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery
every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters exemplify the power of human compassion and the
strength of the American spirit through actions of the most heroic
magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless dedication merit tribute
and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Ex-Chief Anthony Raccomandato upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition after 25 years of dedicated service to the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Raccomandato will be recognized by the North Linden-
hurst Fire Department at its 53rd Annual Inspection and Installation to
be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Anthony Raccomandato has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to the North Linden-
hurst Fire Department and his community; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Raccomandato joined the North Lindenhurst Fire
Department in 1981 as a Junior member at the age of 14; he continued to
be an active member of the Juniors until he applied for membership as an
active Firefighter in January 1985; and
WHEREAS, During his probationary period, Anthony Raccomandato
completed all necessary training certificates and earned two honors, the
Overall Department and High Department percentage awards; and
WHEREAS, As a member of Company No. 2, Anthony Raccomandato has served
in numerous capacities including 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant,
Captain, 2nd Deputy Chief, and 1st Deputy Chief; in 1998, he was elected
Chief of the Department and proudly served in this position until Decem-
ber 2000; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Anthony Raccomandato is an active member of the
"Piston Knockers" Drill Team, helping them capture the New York State
Drill Team Championship in 1981, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Raccomandato has also served on the awards committee,
purchasing new heavy rescue truck committee and the brush truck commit-
tee; and
WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout
the Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the ardu-
ous field of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Anthony
Raccomandato is such a firefighter; throughout 25 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call

of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ex-Chief Anthony Raccomandato upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition after 25 years of dedicated service to
the North Lindenhurst Fire Department on February 20, 2010; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ex-Chief Anthony Raccomandato.
