LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 140,
Orange County, New York, upon the occasion of the celebration of its
25th Anniversary on April 17, 2010

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have so honorably served this State and Nation, deserve a special salute
from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Every citizen of this great State and country is indebted to
those brave men and women whose courage, selflessness and great sacri-
fice symbolize the dedication of a Nation committed to the democratic
freedoms enjoyed by the people of our State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, As Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 140, Orange County,
New York celebrates its 25th Anniversary on April 17, 2010, this Legis-
lative Body is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and commend
the Chapter and its members; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1978, Vietnam Veterans of America is the only
national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and
exclusively dedicated to the well-being of all veterans of the Vietnam
era and their families; and
WHEREAS, Chartered on April 12, 1985, Orange County Chapter 140 works
diligently to increase public awareness of the circumstances of Vietnam
veterans through community involvement, education and Chapter programs;
and
WHEREAS, Actively involved in the communities it serves, Vietnam
Veterans of America Chapter 140 helps raise funds for and participates
in and supports the work of many worthy area organizations and causes;
and
WHEREAS, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 140's members and Color
Guard proudly participate in veterans organization events and activ-
ities, including parades, wakes and funerals of their colleagues, and
other ceremonial events as well as State and National conferences and
meetings; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of this great State and Nation, benefactors of
the sacrifices and courageous acts of the men and women who defended
their freedoms and privileges under a democratic government, remain
indebted and are justly proud of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 140
and its members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and most gratefully commend Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter
140 of Orange County, New York, upon the occasion of the celebration of
its 25th Anniversary on April 17, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 140 Orange County, P.O.
Box 171, New Hampton, New York 10958.
