LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition by the Caribbean-
American Legal Defense and Education Fund

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney have given not only of their
time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leader-
ship and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Faye and
Dr. Karl Rodney upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the Caribbean-American Legal Defense and Education Fund,
to be celebrated on Friday, February 5, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Founders of THE NEW YORK CARIB NEWS, Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl
Rodney established the organization 25 years ago in order to fill a
recognized void in communication of the growing Caribbean-American
community; CARIB NEWS was designed to provide consistent, timely, accu-
rate, and reliable information of the Caribbean region along with the
Caribbean-American communities in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Since having grown into the largest circulated publication,
the mission of CARIB NEWS is to provide a medium for dialogue and infor-
mation that would serve as a bridge to the larger community, assist in
the assimilation process, and to promote significant values and contrib-
utions; and
WHEREAS, As Founder and Sponsor of the Annual Multi-National Business
Conference in the Caribbean, CARIB NEWS has hosted the most successful
business conference bringing together African-American Entrepreneurs,
elected officials and Civic Leaders to explore opportunities of busi-
ness, health, education, and information in the Caribbean as well as in
America; and
WHEREAS, Both the social and economic impact of the community have
been enhanced and regional issues of consequence are being addressed
through the efforts of Faye and Karl Rodney; CARIB NEWS has expanded in
the digital field of communication by establishing a developed internet
radio station which transmits and promotes international outreach of
constructive talk and culture; and
WHEREAS, True assets to society, both Faye and Karl Rodney have
received national honors from the Government of Jamaica; Faye accepted
the Prime Minister's Medal of Recognition, and Karl received the Order
of Distinction-Commander Class; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney have
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney have
displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney upon the occasion of their desig-
nation for special recognition by the Caribbean-American Legal Defense
and Education Fund; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Faye and Dr. Karl Rodney.
