LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the American Legion Post 1711 upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Americanism Awards Night, and paying just
tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize those
renowned organizations and its members who devote their energy,
resources and thoughtful care to improving the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
the American Legion Post 1711 upon the occasion of hosting its Annual
Americanism Awards Night to be held Friday, March 5, 2010, and paying
just tribute to this year's honorees; and
WHEREAS, This year's outstanding honorees include: Robert Aquila for
saving the life of a fellow member at his health club; Patricia Muench
for her Girl Scout Gold Award project entitled "Put a Smile On," care-
fully planned and executed to help chronically ill children at St.
Mary's Hospital; Emily Donahue, a Fire Medic, for saving the life of her
own mother; Jennifer Mazzotta-Perretti for donating one of her kidneys
to a former student who she taught at Nassau BOCES in Wantagh; Detective
Robert Kerseins for apprehending the most notorious graffiti offender in
the township; and Police Officer Robert Tedeschi for capturing a burglar
who robbed four houses in the same day; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to join the American
Legion Post 1711 in commending these exceptional individuals who have
clearly labored so conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of
life for their family members, friends and neighbors who reside within
the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the further intent of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the American Legion Post 1711 upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Americanism Awards Night, and paying just tribute to this year's
honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to American Legion Post 1711, Inc., 3123 North Jerusalem Road,
Levittown, New York 11756; and to the aforementioned honorees.
