LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Commander Heidi Dearing upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by Captree Power Squa-
dron, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Commander
Heidi Dearing upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by Captree Power Squadron, Inc. at its annual Change of Watch on
Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Amityville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Captree Power Squadron is a non-profit organization that
teaches safe boating techniques to both adults and children alike; the
organization teaches classes in Farmingdale Schools, Babylon Annex,
Copiague Library, West Babylon Library and Lindenhurst Schools; and
WHEREAS, Commander Heidi Dearing has been an active member of Captree
Power Squadron, Inc. 2002; she was first elected to the Bridge as Admin-
istrative Officer in 2008, and was elected Commander in 2009; this year
she has been re-elected Commander to lead Captree Power Squadron, Inc.
for a second consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, Active in boating activities, Commander Heidi Dearing has
motivated the members of the Captree Power Squadron to become more
engaged in the Squadron's activities and educational classes; responsi-
ble for overseeing all education and social events, she must attend
district meetings and is extremely involved with other squadrons across
Long Island; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Commander Heidi Dearing upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Captree Power Squadron, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Commander Heidi Dearing.
