LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Connor Vanderplaat upon his
selection as Warwick High School Student-Athlete of the Week by the Bill
Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Connor Vanderplaat upon his selection as Warwick High School
Student-Athlete of the Week by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agen-
cy; and
WHEREAS, Connor Vanderplaat's overall record is outstanding; he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Connor Vanderplaat is a junior at Warwick High School; he is
the top swimmer who won four events in the swim team's final meet to
defeat Cornwall 114-72; and
WHEREAS, Connor Vanderplaat won the 200 Medley Relay (backstroke leg),
50 freestyle (23.52), 100 backstroke (101.54) and the 400 freestyle
relay; he qualified for the sectional championships in six different
events; he is also a captain of the swim team which tripled their wins
total from last year; and
WHEREAS, A well rounded young man who competes on the high school's
club crew team in the spring and fall, Connor Vanderplaat helps out at
his grandfather's horse farm (Meadow Wood Farms) in his spare time and
also works out with the School's swim development program in the spring
and summer; and
WHEREAS, Academically maintaining an 89 average, Connor Vanderplaat is
the son of Jeff and Marilyn Vanderplaat of Sugarloaf, New York; he is
also the brother of Kyle and Taylor; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Connor Vanderplaat has clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Connor Vanderplaat upon his selection as Warwick High
School Student-Athlete of the Week; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Connor Vanderplaat.
