LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cynthia Bianco upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition at the 4th Annual Saint Joseph's Day
Table on Friday, March 19, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons who
provide exemplary service, whether through participation in voluntary
programs, through unique personal achievement in their profession or
other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cynthia Bianco
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition at the 4th
Annual Saint Joseph's Day Table to be held at the Mahoney State Build-
ing, Buffalo, New York, on Friday, March 19, 2010; and
WHEREAS, In Sicily, during great drought and famine, the people made a
promise to Saint Joseph that if the drought would be lifted, they would
be indebted to him; the lords of the manor (landowners) promised to open
their homes and serve the poor in gratitude to Saint Joseph for his
intercession, hence, the tradition of the Saint Joseph's Day Table; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Bianco has continually demonstrated extreme compe-
tence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwav-
ering service to her community and subsequently, has been selected for
this most prestigious tribute; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary leader, Cynthia Bianco is the Superintendent for
the Niagara Falls City School District; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Bianco began her education career at Niagara Falls
High School, where she helped create and taught drama and journalism
classes in 1963; and
WHEREAS, By 1980, Cynthia Bianco served as Supervisor of Instructional
Services, her first administrative job; she was appointed Deputy Super-
intendent of the Niagara Falls City School District in 2002; and
WHEREAS, In the summer of 2009, Cynthia Bianco was selected as the
Superintendent of the Niagara Falls City School District by the Board of
Education; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Cynthia Bianco, and to wish her
continued success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cynthia Bianco upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition at the 4th Annual Saint Joseph's Day Table on Friday, March
19, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cynthia Bianco.
