LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dennis O'Shaughnessy, Sr. upon the occa-
sion of receiving the Business Person of the Year Award from the Bethle-
hem Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, In the course of the evolving development of this Empire State,
when the ingredients of shared concern and responsive endeavor combine
in commitment to community, there emerge among the distinguished citi-
zenry of the State of New York, certain individuals who warrant special
recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dennis
O'Shaughnessy, Sr. upon the occasion of receiving the Business Person of
the Year Award from the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated
at its Silver Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 25, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Owner of Glenmont Car Wash, Dennis O'Shaughnessy has been
active in his community by supporting Glenmont Elementary School PTA,
Make-a-Wish Foundation, youth soccer and hockey teams, other Bethlehem
and RCS schools and the Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Dennis O'Shaughnessy is also a catalyst for transforming the
way business is done; through 35 years of experience running a small
business, he has given hours of free advice to other business owners
both from his location in Glenmont and as past president of the New York
State Car Wash Association; he currently serves on the NE Regional Car
Wash Council, and for 25 years, he has written articles for national
trade magazines; and
WHEREAS, As a former member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Direc-
tors, Dennis O'Shaughnessy contributed hundreds of hours in seminars and
discussions to help other businesses, and to plan for the future of his
community; he deeply cares for the Town of Bethlehem and the Capital
Region; and
WHEREAS, Dennis O'Shaughnessy's distinguished record merits the recog-
nition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, With his proven business leadership abilities and his evident
dedication to his community, Dennis O'Shaughnessy is the quintessential
selection for the prestigious "Business Person of the Year" Award; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dennis O'Shaughnessy, Sr. upon the occasion of receiving the Busi-
ness Person of the Year Award from the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dennis O'Shaughnessy, Sr.
