LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marilyn Freemantle upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a Community Leadership Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marilyn Freemantle upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Community Leadership Award; and
WHEREAS, The Community Leadership Award is presented to people who
have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their community and have had
a positive effect on their community through their work and dedication;
and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Freemantle is owner and operator of Flowers By Mari-
lyn Inc. in Cambria Heights, Queens; she is a member of The National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc., and
the Jamaica Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Freemantle is a member of numerous civic organiza-
tions and consistently mentors local youth; she provides them with
after-school jobs and a safe haven where they learn floral design and
entrepreneurial skills; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Marilyn Freemantle has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Marilyn Freemantle's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marilyn Freemantle upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of a Community Leadership Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marilyn Freemantle.
