LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Rhinebeck
Savings Bank

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize mile-
stones of institutions which serve the citizens and businesses of the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to commemorate the
150th Anniversary of Rhinebeck Savings Bank; and
WHEREAS, Rhinebeck Savings Bank is one of the oldest savings banks in
New York State; serving Dutchess County and its outlying areas, it has
been the bank's practice, since 1860, to focus on what is most impor-
tant, its customers; and
WHEREAS, 2010 marks an important year for Rhinebeck Savings Bank as it
proudly celebrates 150 years in the business of banking; incorporated on
April 12, 1860 as a mutual savings bank, Rhinebeck Savings Bank opened
its doors for business less than one month later, on Saturday, May 5,
1860; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has remained a
trusted source of financial security and community leadership; attesting
to the Bank's exceptional strength and security, BauerFinancial Inc.,
the nation's leading independent bank rating and research firm, has
recently awarded Rhinebeck Savings its 5-star superior rating for the
15th consecutive quarter, an accomplishment of which it may be justly
proud; and
WHEREAS, On April 12, 2010, exactly 150 years after its incorporation,
Rhinebeck Savings Bank will proudly open, in the Town of LaGrange, its
10th branch location; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the opening of a new branch, in keeping with
its long tradition of community involvement and its recognition of the
tremendous human needs which exist today, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has
decided to focus its 150th Anniversary observance on making its communi-
ty a better place, marking this special anniversary with something mean-
ingful to the mid-Hudson Valley -- a year-long series of "random acts of
kindness" -- a commitment which the Bank hopes will become contagious;
and
WHEREAS, Rhinebeck Savings Bank proudly supports numerous local organ-
izations and initiatives, including arts organizations, education
programs, youth sponsorships, housing assistance, family services,
economic development groups, and chambers of commerce, in addition to
the United Way; and
WHEREAS, The Bank's employees also demonstrate their commitment and
strong ties to their communities, actively serving on local boards,
volunteering countless hours and participating in several significant
fundraising campaigns annually; and
WHEREAS, Collectively, Rhinebeck Savings Bank's community outreach
efforts touch thousands of area residents and numerous organizations
each year, providing substantial time, talent and expertise as well as
financial support to local community groups; and
WHEREAS, Rhinebeck Savings Bank offers a full range of products and
services for both consumers and businesses designed to provide customers
with competitive rates and flexible terms; headquartered in Poughkeep-
sie, it has branches in Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Hyde Park, uptown Kingston,
three in Poughkeepsie, East Fishkill, on Route 9D in the Beacon area
and, on the 150th Anniversary of its incorporation, in LaGrange; and

WHEREAS, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has distinguished itself through its
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body commends
Rhinebeck Savings Bank for its excellence and for its commitment and
contributions to the community it has so ably served for a century and a
half; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Rhinebeck Savings Bank, fully
confident that in its future, it will enjoy the same success which has
characterized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rhinebeck Savings Bank.
