LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce
upon the occasion of its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor
the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of its 100th
Anniversary, to be celebrated throughout 2009; and
WHEREAS, Located in southern Allegany County, the Wellsville Area
Chamber of Commerce represents a community nestled in the foothills of
the Appalachian Mountains, with the Genesee River flowing through it;
and
WHEREAS, The Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce represents approxi-
mately 200 members, which give the region a full realm of retail shops,
farms, construction companies, manufacturers, auto dealerships, flor-
ists, restaurants, entertainment establishments, outdoor goods and niche
businesses making the area a wonderful place to live, work and shop; and
WHEREAS, A strong supporter of the community, the Wellsville Area
Chamber of Commerce sponsors many events throughout the year to bring
people to the region, including business expositions, the Riverwalk R.V.
Show, The Lions Greater Wellsville Trout Derby, and The Great Wellsville
Balloon Rally, as well as new events such as the Main Street Musicfest;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors
numerous events throughout the holiday season including hay rides
featuring Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus, as well as the Laurie Mickle Memorial
Fireworks Display; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce
has helped businesses and the community it serves to prosper, always
responding to the needs of the area; and
WHEREAS, A solid cornerstone of the community, the Wellsville Area
Chamber of Commerce will continue to evolve and to improve, always seek-
ing out new ways of helping its members and community; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional organization and its contributions to the local
and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of its
100th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce.
