LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Catrina Clarke upon the occasion
of her selection as the WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the
Week

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice and team spirit, nurtured by dedicated
coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their school and community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Catrina Clarke upon the occasion of her selection as the WARWICK
VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick High School, Catrina Clarke is a star
basketball player who is a key contributor to the Lady Wildcats'
NYSPHSAA high ranking; a four-year varsity player, she currently leads
the team in defensive blocked shots; and
WHEREAS, An excellent student possessing a 3.7 grade point average,
Catrina Clarke has been inducted into the National Honor Society and has
been recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar-athlete for three consec-
utive basketball seasons; and
WHEREAS, Catrina Clarke is a member of the Youth in Government,
S.A.D.D., and the School Senate; she has applied to the University of
Delaware, the University of Rhode Island, and Towson University, where
she plans to study Marketing and Communication; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction and superlative abili-
ty, Catrina Clarke has established a high standard of academic excel-
lence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Catri-
na Clarke now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, coaches
and parents; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Catrina Clarke upon the occasion of her selection as the
WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week and to extend to her
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of her response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model she represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Catrina Clarke.
