LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Thomas Folino upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition as Warwick Valley High School
Athlete of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Thomas Folino upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition as the Warwick Valley High School Athlete of the
Week; and
WHEREAS, Selected as the Warwick Valley High School Athlete of the
Week, Thomas Folino is a senior basketball standout who has led the
Wildcats defensively this season and set a school record with nine
steals in a game against Pine Bush; and
WHEREAS, Recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar-athlete for basket-
ball and golf in his junior year, Thomas Folino was named the Most Valu-
able Player on both teams for 2008-2009; and
WHEREAS, An excellent student who maintains a 94.5 grade point average
with a rigorous academic schedule that includes AP Environmental Science
and AP U.S. History, Thomas Folino is also actively involved in the
Warwick Youth in Government program and is an accomplished piano player;
and
WHEREAS, The son of Thomas and Nancy Folino of Warwick, New York,
Thomas Folino's exceptional athletic and academic accomplishments are
the result of extraordinary hard work and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Thomas Folino's dedication to athletics
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Folino's exemplary performance is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Thomas Folino upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition as the Warwick Valley High School Athlete of the
Week, and to commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his
family, his school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas Folino, Warwick, New York.
