LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Amanda Machung upon the occasion
of achieving the 1,000 Book milestone at Anna Devine Elementary School

WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of New York stand firmly committed to
promoting reading as the catalyst for our students' future academic
success, their preparation for America's jobs of the future, and their
ability to compete in a global economy; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to the youth of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character
and achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this
great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Amanda Machung upon the occasion of achieving the 1,000 Book mile-
stone at Anna Devine Elementary School, Rifton, New York; and
WHEREAS, Amanda Machung will be honored on Friday, April 30, 2010, at
the Annual Book Kid Club celebration; a kindergartner at Anna Devine
Elementary School, she was only one of four students to reach the 1,000
book plateau; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction and superlative abili-
ty, Amanda Machung has established a high standard of academic excel-
lence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Amanda
Machung now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, family and
friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Amanda Machung upon the occasion of achieving the 1,000
Book milestone at Anna Devine Elementary School and to wish her contin-
ued success throughout her school years and beyond; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Amanda Machung.
