LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the
Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women Voters on April 30, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 90th Anniversary of the Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women
Voters; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Friday, April 30,
2010, at the Davenport Club, 400 Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1920, the Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women
Voters serves the Village of Larchmont, the Town of Mamaroneck, and the
Village of Mamaroneck, including the Mamaroneck School District and the
Rye Neck School District; and
WHEREAS, A non-partisan organization which encourages political
responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in
government, the Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women Voters does not
endorse candidates or support political parties; it does take a position
and acts on certain government issues after thorough study; and
WHEREAS, The Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women Voters is interested
in government on national, state, county, and local levels; its activ-
ities also include registration of voters, providing voter information,
and sponsorship of non-partisan candidates' forums; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an organ-
ization of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of
Women Voters; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Larchmont/Mamaroneck League of Women Voters.
