LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Eva G. Duzant for her many years of
ceaseless dedicated service to her community

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Eva G. Duzant has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eva G. Duzant
for her many years of ceaseless dedicated service to her community; and
WHEREAS, Eva G. Duzant is the founder and CEO of the E. G. Edwards &
Associates Inc., a Queens-based firm specializing in accounting and
taxation; she has worked for more than 25 years in the banking industry,
culminating in a six-year stint as an auditor; and
WHEREAS, A former teacher of Mathematics for the Board of Education,
Eva G. Duzant obtained her Associate of Arts degree in Business Adminis-
tration in 1982 from Queensborough Community College; and
WHEREAS, Eva G. Duzant then received a Bachelor of Science degree in
1985 from St. John's University, majoring in Accounting and Taxation;
she also earned her Master of Science degree in Mathematics Teacher
Education from St. John's University; at present, Eva G. Duzant is work-
ing towards her Master's of Divinity at New Brunswick Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Eva G. Duzant has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; she is the President of the Southern Baptist
Church Credit Union, a member of the Willing Worker Chorus, and a Sunday
school teacher; and
WHEREAS, A strong believer in community involvement, Eva G. Duzant
currently serves as the acting president of the Cambria Heights Develop-
ment Corporation, where she previously served as a board member; she is
also the treasurer of the 232nd Street Block Association; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Eva G. Duzant has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Eva G. Duzant is a member of The Institute of Internal Audi-
tors, The New York Society of Independent Accountants, National Society
of Public Accountants and National Association of Tax Professionals; she
is also the author of her first book THE CRATE, a children's book which
has been approved by the New York City Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Eva G. Duzant has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eva G. Duzant for her many years of ceaseless dedicated service to
her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eva G. Duzant.
