LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Deb Hughes upon the occasion of her
retirement from the Baldwinsville Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
lives have been committed to educating our youth; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
Deb Hughes upon the occasion of her retirement from the Baldwinsville
Central School District; and
WHEREAS, Deb Hughes grew up in the Norwich area and taught in Sher-
burne-Earlville Central School District prior to joining the Baldwins-
ville Central School District; and
WHEREAS, For 30 years, Deb has served as a reading teacher; she began
her tenure at C.W. Baker High School, but eventually moved to Elden
Elementary School; Deb was instrumental in teaching countless students
reading skills throughout her 30 years in the school district; and
WHEREAS, Deb Hughes is often described as the heart of Elden Elementa-
ry because she organizes numerous events each year including staff bake
offs and staff parties; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a devoted educator, Deb is a wife, moth-
er to Chris and Josh, and a very proud grandmother to Meghan and Lauren;
she loves to bake, shop, travel, play with her dog Zoe, and spend time
with her family; she and her husband John plan on spending their retire-
ment in a house they built in her hometown of Norwich; and
WHEREAS, For 30 years, Deb Hughes has been devoted to educating chil-
dren by teaching them how to read and sharing with them her passion for
literature; as an educator she has made such a wonderful difference in
the lives of our future generations, and she deserves to be commended
for her investment in our students; her hard work, commitment and dedi-
cation have a positive impact that goes far beyond the classroom; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Deb Hughes for her 30 years of service to the Baldwinsville
Central School District, and to wish her well in her retirement; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deb Hughes.
