LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rabbi Barry Dov and Sonia Schwartz as
they are honored by Temple B'nai Sholom on June 22, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to individuals of firm faith and commitment who have devoted
their untiring energy and purposeful lives in service to their faith;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Rabbi Barry Dov and Sonia Schwartz as they are honored by Temple
B'nai Sholom to be celebrated with a cocktail and dessert reception on
Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Temple in Rockville Centre, New York; and
WHEREAS, An honor graduate from Boston University and a cum laude
graduate from The Hebrew Teachers College, Rabbi Barry Dov Schwartz
serves as the spiritual leader of Temple B'nai Sholom, Rockville Centre,
New York; and
WHEREAS, After studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Rabbi
Barry Dov Schwartz was ordained by The Jewish Theological Seminary in
1965, where he was named The Cyrus Adler Scholar as the outstanding
student at the Seminary; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Rabbi Barry Dov Schwartz was named the Outstand-
ing Citizen of Rockville Centre after receiving the Human Rights Award;
and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his worthy endeavors, this Legislative Body
is pleased to commend the distinguished accomplishments of Rabbi Barry
Dov Schwartz and is proud to extend its highest commendation to him for
his dedication and commitment to his community, his faith and his herit-
age; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rabbi Barry Dov and Sonia Schwartz for a fond evening of tribute
with family and friends on June 22, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rabbi Barry Dov and Sonia Schwartz.
