LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leroy Johnson upon the occasion of
receiving the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk
Association for Continuing Community Education on June 7, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary pursuit of education as adults; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Leroy Johnson upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Student of
the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education (SACCE) at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 7,
2010, at the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Leroy Johnson entered the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Adult Litera-
cy program in 2005, as a student in Adult Basic Education and has
progressed academically each year; and
WHEREAS, For the past few years, Leroy Johnson has attended the Adult
Literacy Program at NYIT in Central Islip; he is an ambitious student
who is extremely reliable and dependable, often providing other students
in the program with transportation to class; and
WHEREAS, Determined to earn his GED, Leroy Johnson has embarked on an
educational journey and as a result has inspired students, staff and
administration; he is a wonderful role model and mentor in the classroom
as well as in his community; and
WHEREAS, Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education proud-
ly honors Leroy Johnson in recognition of his dedication, perseverance
and fortitude; he has continuously demonstrated integrity and honor
while using BOCES' programming and exemplifies the virtues of an
esteemed leader; and
WHEREAS, Leroy Johnson may now stand with just pride in assessing his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new ventures; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leroy Johnson upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding
Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing
Community Education on June 7, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leroy Johnson.
