LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rosendo Villon upon the occasion of
receiving the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk
Association for Continuing Community Education on June 7, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary pursuit of education as adults; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rosendo Villon upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Student of
the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education (SACCE) at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 7,
2010, at the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rosendo Villon is a proud Ecuadorian who came to the United
States with his wife and four children in February 2008; he has been a
student at Challenger Hall in Central Islip since September 2008; and
WHEREAS, As a high school math teacher from Ecuador, Rosendo Villon's
drive for education and need for English brought him to the BOCES' ESL
program; as a leader in the classroom, he is always happy to assist
fellow students with not only their studies but life skills as well; he
has also helped several students get into training programs which lead
to future jobs; and
WHEREAS, When not in the classroom, Rosendo Villon is working as a
home health aide for BEST CARE; and
WHEREAS, Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education proud-
ly honors Rosendo Villon in recognition of his dedication, perseverance
and fortitude; he has continuously demonstrated integrity and honor
while using BOCES' programming and exemplifies the virtues of an
esteemed leader; and
WHEREAS, Rosendo Villon may now stand with just pride in assessing his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new ventures; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rosendo Villon upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding
Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing
Community Education on June 7, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rosendo Villon.
