LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Angela Cruz upon the occasion of receiv-
ing the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk Associ-
ation for Continuing Community Education on June 7, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary pursuit of education as adults; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Angela Cruz upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Student of
the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education (SACCE) at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 7,
2010, at the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Angela Cruz came to the United States from El Salvador in
1990 and after many years of facing the challenging and sometimes diffi-
cult cultural adjustment, she has dedicated herself to improving her
English; and
WHEREAS, In the summer of 2009, Angela Cruz began her classes at Level
1 and continues to make much progress in all levels of listening, speak-
ing, reading and writing in English; she works hard at her lessons with
great concentration and fortitude; and
WHEREAS, Angela Cruz is an exemplary role model for other students;
she always enters class with a bright smile, a focus to do her best, and
a gentle spirit; her enthusiasm for class activities is often contagious
among the other students and she is always one to organize social activ-
ities for the class and bring everyone together; and
WHEREAS, Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education proud-
ly honors Angela Cruz in recognition of her dedication, perseverance and
fortitude; she has continuously demonstrated integrity and honor while
using BOCES' programming and exemplifies the virtues of an esteemed
leader; and
WHEREAS, Angela Cruz may now stand with just pride in assessing her
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of
her accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new ventures; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Angela Cruz upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Student
of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education on June 7, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Angela Cruz.
