LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Eddie Egidio DiBenedetto, upon the
occasion of receiving the Men of Distinction Award on June 10, 2010

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Egidio DiBenedetto has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eddie Egidio
DiBenedetto, upon the occasion of receiving the Men of Distinction
Award, to be celebrated on June 10, 2010, at the 3rd Annual Men of
Distinction Award Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Egidio DiBenedetto immigrated to the United States with
his parents from Italy in 1968; they settled in East New York along with
other family members including uncles, aunts and cousins on Cleveland
St; Eddie DiBenedetto graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in
1971 and has been a member of the East New York community ever since;
and
WHEREAS, Eddie DiBenedetto has owned Caterina's Pizzeria on 907 Livo-
nia Avenue in Brooklyn since 1971 and has realized over the past year
that the time has come for him to show his gratitude; without the East
New York neighborhood he would not have become a successful business
owner and provider for his family; and
WHEREAS, With the help of other local businesses in the area, Eddie
DiBenedetto co-founded the New Lots Avenue Triangle Merchant Association
and created a managing board alongside it; its sole purpose is to imple-
ment its collective vision and goals for the betterment of the neighbor-
hood; and
WHEREAS, With Eddie DiBenedetto throughout have been his wife, Cateri-
na, and their three children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Eddie DiBenedetto has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Eddie DiBenedetto has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Eddie DiBenedetto has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Eddie Egidio DiBenedetto, upon the occasion of receiving the Men
of Distinction Award on June 10, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eddie Egidio DiBenedetto.
