LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating North Salem Middle School upon the
occasion of its designation as a 2010 Essential Elements School to Watch

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late North Salem Middle School upon the occasion of its designation as a
2010 Essential Elements School to Watch, to be celebrated on June 25,
2010, in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, This special merit places North Salem Middle School of North
Salem, New York, as one of 16 middle schools in New York State that have
received state and national recognition; and
WHEREAS, Through the adherence of the Regents Policy Statement on
Middle Level Education, and the Essential Elements of a Standard Focused
Middle Level School, along with the National Forum's School to Watch,
North Salem Middle School has been developed into a first-rate model
educational program within the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, North Salem Middle School/High School serves grades 6-12 in
the North Salem Central School District; it is among the few public
schools in New York to receive a distinguished GreatSchools Rating of 9
out of 10; and
WHEREAS, This special honor stands as a resolute testimony to North
Salem Middle School's standards of excellence, its uncompromising
values, unparalleled dedication, and the special teamwork of its family
of students, parents, teachers and administrators, who share common
goals and uncommon expectations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate North Salem Middle School upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as a 2010 Essential Elements School to Watch; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patricia Cyganovich, Principal of North Salem Middle School.
