LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Inspector Kevin P. Harrington upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition by the 46th Precinct
Community Council at its Annual Fellowship Breakfast on June 25, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations
and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Inspector Kevin P. Harrington as he is honored by the 46th Precinct
Community Council at its Annual Fellowship Breakfast, to be held at the
South Bronx Job Corps Academy on Friday, June 25, 2010, in recognition
and appreciation of his outstanding service to the citizens of Brooklyn
and the Bronx; and
WHEREAS, Distinguished officers like Inspector Kevin P. Harrington, of
Patrol Borough Bronx, who devote themselves to public service, demon-
strating great courage and diligence in providing for the care and
welfare of the citizens of their communities merit the highest commenda-
tion; and
WHEREAS, Inspector Kevin P. Harrington was appointed to the New York
Police Department (NYPD) in October 1990; he began his career in Brook-
lyn Housing and was promoted to Sergeant in June 1994 and was assigned
to the 66th Precinct in Brooklyn Boro Park; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and worked
in the Gang Division until his promotion to Captain in 2000; as a
Captain, he covered Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Street Crime; in 2003,
he was transferred to Police Service Area (PSA) 2; after two successful
years of crime reduction there, he was rewarded with the designation of
Commanding Officer in the 46th Precinct; and
WHEREAS, He was promoted again, in October 2005, to Deputy Inspector
and, after several years of record crime reduction and the excellent
community relations for which he is so well known and admired, he was
promoted to Inspector in June 2009; and
WHEREAS, Since May 2010, Inspector Kevin P. Harrington has been serv-
ing as the Patrol Borough Bronx Adjutant for Assistant Chief Carlos
Gomez; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career, Inspector Kevin
P. Harrington has earned an NYPD Commendation, five Meritorious Service
Awards, and eight citations for Excellent Police Duty; and
WHEREAS, With Inspector Kevin P. Harrington throughout have been his
wife, Kathy, and their son and three daughters, all of whom are proud to
be part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such accomplishment are brought to our attention, they should be
recognized and celebrated by all the citizens of the great City and
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Inspector Kevin P. Harrington as he is honored by the 46th
Precinct Community Council at its Annual Fellowship Breakfast on June
25, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Inspector Kevin P. Harrington.
