LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the
Buffalo Bisons Baseball Organization

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary organizations which excel in professional athletics,
distinguishing themselves through notable achievements and representing
the great Empire State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
125th Anniversary of the Buffalo Bisons Baseball Organization; and
WHEREAS, The Buffalo Bisons have been providing quality baseball to
the sports fans of New York since 1877; this special 2010 season repres-
ents the Buffalo Bisons 125th season of professional baseball in
Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The original Buffalo Bisons baseball club played in the
National League between 1879 and 1885; they played their games at River-
side Park (1879-83) and at Olympic Park (1884-85); and
WHEREAS, The Bisons have brought to the fans of Buffalo six Interna-
tional League Governors Cup Championships and one American Association
Championship; these special fans have spent 125 years watching legendary
players like Ollie Carnegie, Luke Easter and Jeff Manto; and
WHEREAS, The Buffalo Bisons are the Triple-A affiliate of the New York
Mets Major League Baseball Team; they have spent 125 years showcasing
many stars of Major League Baseball of both past and present; and
WHEREAS, The Bisons play at Coca-Cola Field, in the heart of Downtown
Buffalo; they represent an important economic and cultural center for
the Western New York community; and
WHEREAS, The Bisons have the top six attendance records in the history
of Minor League Baseball; they set a Minor League Baseball attendance
record with 1.2 million fans during the 1991 season; and
WHEREAS, The Buffalo Bisons represent the best sports and family
entertainment experience and value at every game; they are a true asset
to society; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding organizations which distinguish themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the Buffalo Bisons Baseball Organ-
ization; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Buffalo Bisons Baseball Organization.
