LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the Pre-Father's Day Gospel Extrava-
ganza and Father's Day Gospel Tea on Grand Cayman Island, June 19-20,
2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate
the Pre-Father's Day Gospel Extravaganza and Father's Day Gospel Tea;
this auspicious occasion was held on Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20,
2010, on Grand Cayman Island; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, June 19, 2010, a Pre-Father's Day Gospel Extra-
vaganza at the Lions Community Centre on Grand Cayman Island featured
Joan Myers, Brother Paul, Gerard Placide and the La Pierre Family Steel
Drum Band; and
WHEREAS, On Sunday, June 20, 2010, a Father's Day Gospel Tea was held
at the Launch Pad Entertainment Center at 1866 Shamrock Road, Savannah,
Grand Cayman Island; it featured Joan Myers, New York's renowned gospel
singer extraordinaire, and Gerard Placide, Atlanta, Georgia's amazing
gospel evangelist; and
WHEREAS, The Father's Day Gospel Tea on Grand Cayman Island was an
afternoon of praise, worship and nutrition for the body and soul; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Pre-Father's
Day Gospel Extravaganza and Father's Day Gospel Tea on Grand Cayman
Island; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
organizations and individuals that serve to bring people together for
the united purpose of actively pursuing improvements in their communi-
ties; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the Pre-Father's Day Gospel Extravaganza and Father's Day
Gospel Tea on Grand Cayman Island; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Fraser.
