LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Elise Pennington upon the occasion
of her designation as the Warwick Valley Central High School Student-
Athlete of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Elise Pennington upon the occasion of her designation as
the Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, Elise Pennington is the daughter of Bill and Joyce Pennington
of Warwick, New York; she is also the sister of Anne and Jack; and
WHEREAS, The junior softball player led the Wildcats to an 8-3 victory
over Newburgh Free Academy, pitching a five-hitter and was the pitcher
of record in the teams' win over Vernon; and
WHEREAS, Elise Pennington is in her third year on the varsity softball
team and has excelled in skiing, qualifying for the state championships
three consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, Elise Pennington is an excellent student carrying a 99.5
average and a class schedule that includes AP English, AP Biology, AP
Psychology and AP U.S. History, all for college credit; she is taking
the Science Research Class for College Credit as well; and
WHEREAS, Elise Pennington is a member of the National Honor Society,
Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and the Peer Mediation Program; she
is also an accomplished cello player; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Elise Pennington's dedication to
athletics is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused
and has developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Elise Pennington's exemplary performance is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Elise Pennington upon the occasion of her designation as
the Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week, and
to commend her for the enduring honor she has brought to her family, her
school and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elise Pennington, Warwick, New York.
