LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of
his designation as the Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Ath-
lete of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah is the son of Karen and Gavin Hannah of Warwick,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The senior basketball standout has decided to attend Cortland
State this fall where he will compete for the Red Dragons Men's Basket-
ball Team; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah paced the Wildcats to a Section 9 tournament
berth and a 4-2 divisional record leading the team in scoring with 260
points and 23 blocked shots; and
WHEREAS, The 6'6" senior was recruited by the Red Dragons Head Coach
Tom Stanbauer and will study physical education at the Division III
powerhouse; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah is a strong student who maintains an 89.5 grade
point average with a schedule that includes Advanced Placement U.S.
History, an Orange County Community College Business Class for College
Credit; and
WHEREAS, He has been recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar-athlete
for basketball and football and was named the team's Most Valuable
Basketball Player in 2009 and Most Productive Offensive Player in 2010;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Gavin Hannah's dedication to athletics
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah's exemplary performance is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week, and to
commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his family, his
school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gavin Hannah, Warwick, New York.
