LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dan Paez upon the occasion of his
designation as the Warwick Valley Central High School Student- Athlete
of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Dan Paez upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, Dan Paez is the son of Philip and Gretchen Paez of Warwick,
New York; he is also the brother of Lucas, Eric and Pilar; and
WHEREAS, The junior cross country and track and field star is a part
of the 4x800-meter relay team that won the Championship of America at
the Penn Relays last weekend; and
WHEREAS, Dan Paez and teammates Tim Luthin, Dan Ramirez and Charles
Armand's time of 7:41.7 was the top time at the prestigious track and
field event; and
WHEREAS, Dan Paez is an excellent student who maintains a 90 grade
point average while taking a challenging course load, including AP
English and Chemistry for college credit; and
WHEREAS, He is an accomplished soccer player that moved over to cross
country to focus on his running; he is a part of the boys' cross country
sectional championship cross country team from this fall; and
WHEREAS, Dan Paez plans on competing at the highest level of track and
field upon graduation in spring 2011; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Dan Paez's dedication to athletics is a
year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has developed
a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Dan Paez's exemplary performance is reflective of his dedi-
cation, determination and personal commitment; his achievements stand as
a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and communities
across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dan Paez upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week, and to
commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his family, his
school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Paez, Warwick, New York.
