LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Rajasthan Association of North
America upon the occasion of its International Convention being held in
Huntington, New York July 2-5, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored custom, to recognize and pay tribute to organizations which
foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural diversity which
strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York State and our
nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
the many contributions of Indian Americans residing throughout the State
of New York, to commend the Rajasthan Association of North America
(RANA) upon the occasion of its International Convention being held in
Huntington, New York July 2-5, 2010, and to welcome all its members and
guests who will attend; and
WHEREAS, RANA was formed more than 20 years ago with a mission of
preserving and promoting Rajasthani culture, values, heritage and tradi-
tions and instilling them in current and future generations by exposing
them to their long and deeply rooted values and heritage; and
WHEREAS, Creating a bond between the people of the State of Rajasthan,
India and Rajasthanis living in North America, RANA regularly hosts
acclaimed artists, celebrates traditional festivals, organizes community
service and other charitable activities, provides opportunities to share
and enjoy Rajasthani art, music, literature, dance and food, and fosters
economic and industrial development in Rajasthan; and
WHEREAS, RANA's International Convention, to be held at the Huntington
Hilton, Huntington, New York will offer programs and events featuring
many of these topics and activities; it will be attended by more than
2,000 Indian Americans, including community and business leaders in
healthcare, education, technology and many other fields; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Chief Minister of the State of Rajasthan
will be an honored guest as will the other members of the Rajasthani
Ministerial Delegation; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history RANA has exemplified community
involvement and pride of heritage; on the occasion of its 2010 Interna-
tional Convention, this Legislative Body is pleased to applaud its
worthy purpose and many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA) upon the occa-
sion of its International Convention being held in Huntington, New York
July 2-5, 2010, and to welcome all the participants to New York; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Rajasthan Association of North America and to the Chief
Minister of the State of Rajasthan.
