LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Newburgh Nuclears upon the occa-
sion of hosting the American Legion Baseball New York State Tournament
on July 27-August 1, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary athletes who excel in athletics, distinguishing them-
selves through notable achievements and representing the great Empire
State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Newburgh Nuclears upon the occasion of hosting the American Legion
Baseball New York State Tournament on July 27-August 1, 2010; and
WHEREAS, The Newburgh Nuclears will be hosting the American Legion
Baseball New York State Tournament at Delano Hitch Stadium in the City
of Newburgh; this year's Tournament will feature the District Champions
from across New York State; and
WHEREAS, This is a great privilege and honor for both the Newburgh
Nuclears Organization and the City of Newburgh to have been chosen by
American Legion Baseball to host this prestigious event; the tournament
will feature eight District Champions throughout New York State and the
championship teams will be comprised of talented athletes ranging from
ages 16 to 19; and
WHEREAS, The Champions of the New York State Tournament will travel to
West Lawn, Pennsylvania, for the Regional Tournament; the climax of this
year's American Legion Baseball will be the World Series which will be
played in Spokane, Washington; and
WHEREAS, Players, coaches, parents, families and fans of all ages will
be participating in many ways; players and coaches will perform on the
baseball diamond and parents and family members will be assisting in
various capacities, including field prep, press box, and concession
stand duties; the American Legion Veterans will also be assisting at the
gate and in the stands with special events; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Newburgh Nuclears upon the occasion of hosting the American
Legion Baseball New York State Tournament on July 27-August 1, 2010; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Don Becker, General Manager of the Newburgh Nuclears.
