LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Steve Motichka upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Men at Work Award from the SULLIVAN
COUNTY DEMOCRAT

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Steve Motichka
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Men at Work
Award from the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka is the owner of Rent-E-Quip in Honesdale,
Pennsylvania, a business he started 22 years ago; and
WHEREAS, The idea came to him when he was building a home and needed a
specific tool for just a little while; he really didn't have the funds
to go out and purchase it, so he borrowed it from someone else; he real-
ized then if he has this problem, somebody else is probably having the
same one, so why not start a business of renting tools and equipment;
and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka began with used equipment and that turned into
a headache because it was always breaking down, so he went back to the
bank and borrowed more money and bought all new equipment; and
WHEREAS, Rent-E-Quip offers everything from floor sanders to compres-
sors to nail guns, welders and even bulldozers; a few years back Steve
Motichka expanded the business to include party rentals; and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka enjoys helping others and he and his staff
take time to explain how to use the equipment before they leave his
store; and
WHEREAS, It is the dedicated employees that make Rent-E-Quip what it
is today; there are 13 employees in the winter and 19 during the summer
months; and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka is a member of the Wayne County Chamber of
Commerce, the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce, The American Rental Asso-
ciation and the Greater Honesdale Partnership; he was recently honored
with the Businessman of the Year award for Wayne County and also
received the Community Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Steve Motichka has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Steve Motichka has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jennifer, and their
two daughters, Joelee and Jenna, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Steve Motichka has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Steve Motichka upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Men at Work Award from the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steve Motichka.
