LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor David A. Paterson to
proclaim September 1, 2010, as Good Neighbor Day in the State of New
York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to memorialize Gover-
nor David A. Paterson to proclaim September 1, 2010, as Good Neighbor
Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the 16th Annual FTD
Good Neighbor Day; and
WHEREAS, FTD Good Neighbor Day is an annual event sponsored by Flor-
ists Transworld Delivery to promote goodwill and friendship in communi-
ties; it is traditionally sponsored by a local FTD florist who gives
away roses by the dozen to their customers and asks them to keep one and
give 11 away to friends, neighbors or others in the community, spreading
goodwill and friendship in the community; and
WHEREAS, A prominent business in the Macedon community, Wayne County,
Elizabeth Lynne Gifts & Floral Designs, under the luminous direction of
Janet Lynne Schumann, has decided to expand on this idea and has invited
other local businesses to participate to provide a forum for showcasing
the many varied businesses and services that this community has to
offer; and
WHEREAS, Beginning at 7 a.m. the flower shop in the West Wayne Plaza
at 1900 Route 31 in Macedon will give away 3,000 roses in bunches of a
dozen, absolutely free to anyone who visits the shop; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the day, local businesses will be volunteering at
the store to assist in giving away roses, greeting the members of the
Macedon community, offering their business information and raffling off
donated goods and services to help support community related causes; and
WHEREAS, Good Neighbor Day is a time when all New Yorkers can remind
themselves of the extraordinary power of goodwill and friendship and in
the process make the communities of this great Empire State a better
place to live and work; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor David A. Paterson to proclaim September 1, 2010, as
Good Neighbor Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable David A. Paterson, Governor of the State of New
York, and Janet Lynne Schumann, owner of Elizabeth Lynne Gifts & Floral
Designs, Macedon, New York.
