LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ileana Eckert upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Haverstraw Police Athletic
League on March 6, 2009

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ileana Eckert has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ileana Eckert
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Haverstraw Police Athletic League at its 2009 Scholarship Dinner to be
held on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Terrace on the Hudson, Haverstraw, New
York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Ileana Eckert is being
recognized as a person who has made an enormous difference in the lives
of the children in her community; and
WHEREAS, As the Deputy Superintendent of the North Rockland School
District, Ileana Eckert has shown a clear understanding of the breadth
of her role in shaping the futures of the children entrusted to her
care; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Ileana Eckert, who dedicate their lives as educa-
tors, nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Ileana Eckert has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ileana Eckert has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Ileana Eckert has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ileana Eckert upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Haverstraw Police Athletic League; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ileana Eckert.
