LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Peter R. Eckert upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Haverstraw Police Athletic
League on March 6, 2009

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Peter R. Eckert has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special commendation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Peter R.
Eckert upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Haverstraw Police Athletic League at its 2009 Scholarship Dinner to
be held on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Terrace on the Hudson, Haverstraw,
New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Peter R. Eckert is being
recognized as a person who has made an enormous difference in the lives
of the children in his community; and
WHEREAS, As the Haverstraw Police Athletic League Board President,
Peter R. Eckert has shown a clear understanding of the breadth of his
role in shaping the futures of the children entrusted to his care; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Peter R. Eckert, who dedicate their lives, nurturing
our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Peter R. Eckert has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Peter R. Eckert has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Peter R. Eckert has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Peter R. Eckert upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Haverstraw Police Athletic League; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Peter R. Eckert.
