LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Akinyemi Bajulaiye upon the occasion of
receiving the Eric Tutera Sports Leadership Award from the New Rochelle
Fund for Educational Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
those young people within our midst whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Akinyemi Bajulaiye upon the occasion of receiving the Eric Tutera Sports
Leadership Award from the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence;
and
WHEREAS, The Vice President of the senior class at New Rochelle High
School, Akinyemi Bajulaiye is an exceptional student, taking a most
rigorous program of study with 12 credits in Honors or Advanced Place-
ment classes; and
WHEREAS, Akinyemi Bajulaiye is also a member of the Symphonic Band,
where he is currently the first clarinet, and has been involved in the
Performing Arts Visual Education Program, where he will receive special
recognition at graduation for his efforts; and
WHEREAS, Overall, Akinyemi Bajulaiye has earned a cumulative grade
point average of 93.6 and was inducted into the National Honor Society
and the French Honor Society and is a member of the National Society of
High School Scholars; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding athlete, Akinyemi Bajulaiye was named to All
League in Cross Country and All League, County and Section in Track and
Field, as well as finishing third in the New York State Championships
and receiving the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction and superlative ability,
Akinyemi Bajulaiye has established a high standard of academic excel-
lence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
Akinyemi Bajulaiye now stands honorably, with just pride in his accom-
plishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding
and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teach-
ers, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Akinyemi Bajulaiye upon the occasion of receiving the Eric Tutera
Sports Leadership Award from the New Rochelle Fund for Educational
Excellence, and to extend to him its best wishes for a future of
purposeful success and well-being, fully confident of his response to a
promising future and appreciative of the model he represents for all
aspiring young people of the Empire State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Akinyemi Bajulaiye.
