LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of
Rockland upon the occasion of its 10th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to celebrate the
milestones of those enduring places of worship within the State of New
York which serve the spiritual needs of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of Rockland upon the occasion of its 10th
Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of Rockland was founded in
1999 to take care of the spiritual well-being of over 250 Syro Malabar
Catholic families who emigrated to the region from India over the past
30 years; and
WHEREAS, Under the jurisdiction of the St. Thomas Syro Malabar Epar-
chial Diocese of Chicago, the Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of Rockland
currently uses the facility at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in
Orangeburg, New York; and
WHEREAS, Standing on the threshold of tomorrow, the Syro Malabar
Catholic Mission of Rockland is prepared to meet the challenges of the
coming years while retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes
its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of Rockland upon the occasion of
its 10th Anniversary, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling success which has so characterized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of Rockland.
