LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Assunta C. Turri upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the SMS Lodge Ladies Auxilia-
ry

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Assunta C.
Turri upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the SMS Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, to be celebrated at her 90th birthday
party on Saturday, April 4, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Born in Seneca Falls, New York, on April 6, 1919, Assunta
Turri is the oldest member of the SMS Lodge Ladies Auxiliary; while in
school, she attended Mynderse Academy, the Freeman Business School, and
Auburn Community College; and
WHEREAS, On June 25, 1938, Assunta Faiola married the late Louis A.
Turri; she was employed as a medical secretary for Dr. David L. Koch,
and served as Surrogate Court Clerk for Seneca County; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the SMS Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, Assunta Turri
is a member of both the Women's Hall of Fame and the Seneca Falls
Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, With Assunta Turri throughout have been her children,
William, Joseph, Louis Jr. and Angela, her grandchildren, Joe, Jackie,
Steven, Jennifer, Jeff, Matt and Michael, and her seven great-grandchil-
dren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice
in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Assunta Turri's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Assunta C. Turri upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the SMS Lodge Ladies Auxiliary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Assunta C. Turri.
