LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kathleen A. Zguris upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Business Award by the Town of Brook-
haven Office of Women's Services on March 26, 2009

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen A. Zguris has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kathleen A.
Zguris upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Business
Award by the Town of Brookhaven Office of Women's Services in cele-
bration of National Women's History Month at its 23rd Annual Women's
Recognition Night, held on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Brookhaven Town
Hall Auditorium, Farmingville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen A. Zguris is being honored for her professional
achievements as well as for the generosity and enthusiasm with which she
graces the Town of Brookhaven; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen A. Zguris was an employee and is now part owner of
Family Melody Center in Patchogue, New York; and
WHEREAS, Described as an outstanding business woman with unquestion-
able integrity, commitment to her customers and devotion to her communi-
ty, Kathleen A. Zguris is a graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School
and Suffolk Community College; and
WHEREAS, She began her career in Family Melody Center in 1973, and was
soon promoted to store manager; in 1998, she became the partner of
Joseph Rosen in owning Family Melody Center; her days are kept busy
managing staff, working with school districts or helping customers; each
task she performs she is lauded for her diligence and attentiveness; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen A. Zguris is also known for her generosity of time,
supplies and support within the community; she is an active member of
the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, It is her time, commitment and talent that helps local school
districts keep their music programs afloat; after Hurricane Katrina,
Kathleen A. Zguris reached out to help by donating music to New Orleans
Schools; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Kathleen A. Zguris has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kathleen A. Zguris has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kathleen A. Zguris upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Business Award by the Town of Brookhaven Office of Women's
Services on March 26, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kathleen A. Zguris, Medford, New York.
